Fáskrúð í Dölum

enters the Hvammsfjördur some six miles north of the hamlet Búðardalur.  It is a small river, approximately 25 kilometers long with  32 square kilometers drainage area.  It's tributary "Thverá" is passable for salmon a short way up from the junction. 

 

The average catch for the last 35 years are 230 salmon, best in 1988, with 464 fish, and poorest in 1994, when only 96 salmon were caught.  The river is fished with 2 and sometimes 3 rods. 

 

Leaseholders now (2004) are two angling clubs, - the Angling Club of Reykjavík and that of Akranes.  They divide the river by fishing alternately for six days each.  The Angling Club of Reykjavík can be contacted by phone +354-568-6050,  or E-mail; svfr@svfr.is  It's home page is www.svfr.is
