Skjálfandafljót, neðri hluti

The lower part of Skjálfandafljót empties into the Skjálfanda bay, just opposite to the town Húsavík.  It is a big glacial river, suporting a small net fishing and an increasing rod fishing as well.  The average catch since 1974 is 424, with top catch in 1994; 932 fish. The poorest year was 1975, only 67 salmon.

 

Since the start of the 2017 season the river is leased to the Angling Service Iceland Outfitters.
