Miðá

Miðá empties into Hvammsfjördur in the Dölum district.  It is a good sized river, compared with other rivers in that area.  It used to yield a good salmon catch with a sizable char fishing, thrown in for good measure.  Lately it has been considered one of the best rivers for anadromous char with some hope of salmon on the side, even if the salmon is again coming in more strongly for the last few years.

Midá is fished with three rods.  The average catch since 1974 is 127 salmon, with 1997 as the poorest season with only 31 fish and 2008 on the top with 387 salmon.  The average trout catch is 400 up to 600 char per year.  A fine self catering lodge is close by the river.

The river is leased by a group of anglers, headed by Ludvig Gizurarson, for private use only.
