Kerlingardalsá, Vatnsá

Kerlingardalsá empties into the ocean a few kilometers east of "Vík í Mýrdal", 190 kilometers east of Reykjavik by road # 1. It's main tributary is the "Vatnsá" running out of the lake "Heiðarvatn".

Both rivers holds fish. Kerlingadalsá offers a moderately good Sea Trout fishing but Vatnsá yields almost all the salmon of this river system.  Now a gentelman named Rudolf Lamprect holds the ownership of all Heiðarvatn and the Vatnsá, and a good share of Kerlingardalsá too.  He has stocked the rivers with salmon smolts and greatly increased the runs.  The 2008 season yielded 992 salmon.   His representative here in Iceland, Ásgeir A. Ámundason also manages the Skógá.  He gives all information and sees to the booking.  Contact him at his E-mail address skoga@skogs.is
